Now, all our local school districts are sharing the same message – ‘its ok to not be ok.’
This week’s ‘Hometown Hero’ is a Martin County High School student, taking action through the nonprofit she started called “Teen Mental Reset” to help break the stigma associated with mental health issues.

STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — Nira Goyal is not a licensed mental health counselor.
However, at 16, this Martin County High School junior knows there’s a growing crisis when it comes to teens and mental health. She's tackling the problem head-on.
“Mental health is not something to be ashamed of. That’s misconception that’s out there,” said 16-year-old Nira Goyal.
Goyal created a non-profit organization, Teen Mental Reset, Inc., to break the stigma and open the doors for people her age to share their struggles with issues like anxiety and depression.

PALM CITY — It can be stressful being a teenager in today's world, said Nira Goyal, a 16 year old who is hoping to bring more awareness to teen mental health.
Students have been through two years of a COVID-19 pandemic that disrupted their learning and social interaction, she said.
The COVID-19 pandemic was especially difficult because many schools went to distance learning during its early days, she said. Goyal was in eighth grade in 2020 when she moved to distance learning, which continued through the last quarter of ninth grade.
